Welcome Back Parents/Guardians and Students!!!!!!
My name is Ms. Jackson and I will be your child’s ELA and Math teacher for the 2019-2020 school year. This is an exciting year and I am very happy to be working with you all this year. As of right now we are a class with 9 students but that can change at anytime throughout the school year. This is my fifteenth year of teaching in the Colonial School District and I have taught seven of those years at Pleasantville Elementary School. Before I taught at Pleasantville, I was a teacher at Castle Hills Elementary School and William Penn High School.
Students are expected to come to school on time, every day and to be ready to learn. The school day starts at 8:19 am and ends at 3:19 pm. There will be no homework this year but if you would like for me to send home extra work for your child, I will gladly do so for you. On Friday, weekly Friday Reports will be given to keep you informed about your student’s progress for that week or the previous week. The Friday Report will have messages to you about important dates and events at school as well as how your student is doing with their behavior and academics in subjects being taught that week. This is given on Fridays and is expected to be signed and returned by Monday. It is critical to return this on Monday because it lets me as a teacher know that I have communicated with you about what is going on with your child. If at anytime, this report is ever lost throughout the weekend, you may send me a note or an email stating you saw the Friday Report for that week.
We will also practice staying organized throughout the school year. Your child will have folders for ELA and Math. Worksheets, notes and other important papers will be put into the folders daily. We will work together as a class to make sure our papers are put in the right places so that at any time if a student needs to find their papers, they will be in there. Your student will also be given composition books to use throughout the year which I have provided these things at the beginning of the year. Soft pencil cases are easier to store in desks so if you choose to get your child a pencil case, could you please get that type of case for your child. I do provide basic supply needs for your child but I always welcome donations from you if you would like to give to our classroom. Also, please make sure your child has headphones or earbuds because we do assignments on the computer and sometimes those assignments include audio that they will need to listen to as well.
If you ever need to contact me, you can reach me by phone at (302) 323-2935 ext. 1006 or by email at [email protected]. You can send a note to me as well and I will respond as soon as possible. My website, msajackson.weebly.com is a good resource as well for you to find what is going on as well as to stay informed about our classroom.
Sincerely,
Ms. Jackson
